Pledge your support

Whether children come from underprivileged backgrounds, or are lucky enough to have parents who can afford medical aid, the emotional strain on their parents is equal when they learn that their children are suffering from a congenital heart disorder and need surgery.

While the experiences are never pleasant, they have often stirred up a lot of generosity from many of the more privileged parents who have had their children saved at the cardiac unit in Sunninghill.

Many have indicated their willingness to help out financially with small regular donations to the Foundation, and in keeping with our drive to make donating easier and more accessible; we’re also launching the Mothers Support Group.

This initiative will give – what we call – Medical Aid Mothers the ability to make small regular donations via debit order towards the running of various support mechanisms and programmes at the Foundation.

About The WSPCF

The Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Foundation (WSPCF) is a philanthropic paediatric cardiac foundation for Africa, focussing on delivering life-saving surgery for underprivileged children with congenital heart disorders from across Africa. It also aims to develop diagnostic and treatment skills amongst Africa’s medical fraternity and conducts critical research into paediatric cardiac healthcare. The cardiac surgery or intervention is undertaken at the Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Centre for Africa situated in Netcare Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg, , as well as at Cape Town’s Netcare Christian Barnard Memorial and Red Cross Children’s Hospitals. The WSPCF was founded by Dr. Robin Kinsley in 2003, and was established as a living legacy to the late Walter Sisulu and his widow, Albertina, both of whom dedicated their lives to helping children in need.
