A word from the CEO

clip_image002We have literally hit the ground running this quarter with so much activity and news, I hardly know where to begin!

As you’ll see, this newsletter is packed with fantastic news about new partnerships, events, celebrations, our kids, and celebs who believe in our cause.

I think I must start by mentioning the huge endorsement that we’ve received from Victor Matfield as part of the Blood Brothers Testimonial, which you can read about in this newsletter. It’s an amazing opportunity for us, and we’re completely overwhelmed that has chose the WSPCF as his charity of choice!

And on the subject of celebs, we’re also very proud to announce that rock band Watershed, was so moved from a visit to the unit at Netcare Sunninghill Hospital, that the lead singer, Craig, wrote and performed a song for us, which will later be made into a video—we’re hoping to launch it at Mama Albertina Sisulu’s birthday later this month, where we’ll also be celebrating our 400th operation!

Again we are so grateful and humbled by peoples’ generosity and willingness to assist us! In fact, more and more individual donations are being made—especially by parents with medical aids whose children have been operated on at the WSPCCA.

Thank you for recognising the difference we are trying to make to our indigent cardiac children who have so little.

We also want to welcome to Sandy and her team from Firehouse Advertising as our new advertising partners. Watch this space, we have some exciting things lined up!

On 18/7/10 celebrated  Mandela day by planting spinach with the Vodacom Yebo Hero Team for crèches in Diepsloot. We had such a BIG crop and Patti Hanley managed to harvest a lot of food for her crèches.

Until next time, enjoy this edition of our newsletter!

God Bless

About The WSPCF

The Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Foundation (WSPCF) is a philanthropic paediatric cardiac foundation for Africa, focussing on delivering life-saving surgery for underprivileged children with congenital heart disorders from across Africa. It also aims to develop diagnostic and treatment skills amongst Africa’s medical fraternity and conducts critical research into paediatric cardiac healthcare. The cardiac surgery or intervention is undertaken at the Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Centre for Africa situated in Netcare Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg, , as well as at Cape Town’s Netcare Christian Barnard Memorial and Red Cross Children’s Hospitals. The WSPCF was founded by Dr. Robin Kinsley in 2003, and was established as a living legacy to the late Walter Sisulu and his widow, Albertina, both of whom dedicated their lives to helping children in need.
