The Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Centre for Africa (WSPCCA) today proudly announced that 11 children will benefit from life-saving open heart surgery as a result of a €100,000 (Approx. R1,4m) donation from Erich and Irene Lejeune the Herz-für-Herz (Heart-to-Heart) Foundation.
As part of the agreement, the Herz-für-Herz Foundation also delivered a letter of endorsement from FIFA chairman, Sepp Blatter, which details something very special for the children who have had their hearts mended at the WSPCCA thanks to the Foundation’s donation.
In addition, the 11 children and their parents will be hosted at the opening game of the FIFA World Cup in 2010, where Bafana Bafana will play in the first of 63 games to be played across the tournament.
Amongst the attendees of the cheque handover were WSPCCA president, Lungi Sisulu, City of Jo’burg Mayor and Amos Masondo.
Ex-Bafana Bafana skipper, Lukas Radebe, also sent through a pledge of his full support for the project, which the WSPCCA is delighted about.
